There are three Apple Watch models to choose from, although you'll likely only be deciding between two of them, unless you have $10,000 lying around to buy the gold Apple Watch Edition. Otherwise, your options are fairly simple.

You can go for the Apple Watch Sport, which has an aluminum casing and starts at $350, or you can buy the stainless model, which is simply just called the Apple Watch, and comes with a chrome finish. That model starts at $550.

If you've settled on the Apple Watch Sport, the decision-making process isn't over yet, though, and you have another tough decision ahead of you.

You'll need to decide which Apple Watch Sport color to get, as the entry-level wearable comes in four different colors: Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, and Gold.

Which Apple Watch Sport Color to Buy

Many users likely have a favorite color of Apple Watch that they can pick out right away. Some like the silver casing way more than other options, while others may prefer the black casing for a stealthier and sleeker feel.

However, if you're having a hard time deciding on a color, here are some things to keep in mind.

Apple Watch Band Compatibility

Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind when choosing an Apple Watch sport color is thinking about the watch bands that you'll be using.

Of course, if you'll be using a Sport Band, Apple offers a ton of different color options for that band that can go well with any of the four colors of the Apple Watch Sport, and you can even get creative yourself by mixing colors around.

However, if you're going with another watch band, this is where you'll have to be more careful. For instance, the silver Milanese Loop likely wouldn't go together well with a Space Gray, Rose Gold, or Gold Apple Watch Sport. The colors would simply clash and wouldn't look all that great, leaving the Silver option the only choice for a Milanese Loop.

As for the leather bands, you have a bit more freedom. For instance, the blue Leather Loop would look great with the Gold color option, as would the black version, and the stone Leather Loop would look good with the Rose Gold model.

Gold Apple Watch Sport

Just like with the $10,000 Apple Watch Edition, the Apple Watch Sport is offered in both Rose Gold and regular Gold. However, it's not actually real gold.

Apple launched these new colors for the Apple Watch Sport later in 2015, giving frugal buyers the opportunity to experience a gold Apple Watch of sorts, but they're still made out of aluminum that has simply been colored in gold.

The gold versions of the Apple Watch Sport are the same price as the other color options, so you won't need to pay more for the privilege, but just be careful with your watch band selection, as not all watch band styles and colors will go well with the gold.

In the end, I personally think that the Silver Apple Watch Sport has the most versatility as far as which Apple Watch bands you can use with it. It's a neutral color that looks great and it will even match the aluminum on your iPhone.
