Bowling alley suspect

The owner of Capri Bowling Lanes is asking the public to keep an eye out for a "low-life" who stole a child's iPad Monday evening.

A man came into the bowling alley at 7:15 p.m. and bought a coffee, but apparently wasn't there to bowl.

He sat in the back of the building, near a 10-year-old boy who was playing on an iPad while his parents bowled.

When the child went to talk to his parents, the man grabbed the iPad, along with the batteries out of two television remotes, and left the lanes.

"We chased around the whole facility, but we couldn't spot him anywhere," said owner Bryan Sargeant. "It was just a such a piss off that a guy would do something like that with a little 10-year-old kid because he saw him sitting there playing with it."

The child was upset by the theft and began crying when he realized his iPad was gone.

Sargeant says the entire Capri Centre Mall has had issues with people who use the services of a nearby shelter, but staff have always allowed people to warm up in the bowling alley if needed.

"If you're going to buy a coffee, and sit down and warm up for 15 minutes and go have a whiz, by all means go ahead," he said. "Now, this guy's pretty well wrecked it for everybody."
